RNC nab 2 impaired drivers in metro
Two men are facing impaired driving charges after two separate incidents in the metro region over the weekend.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary pulled a vehicle over in the downtown area of St. John's.
The officer suspected the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was impaired and, following breath testing, the man was charged with operating a vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood.
Meanwhile, around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, RNC officers pulled a vehicle over in the area of Old Placentia Road in Mount Pearl. As a result of that traffic stop, a 36-year-old male driver is facing similar charges.
Both men were released from custody to appear in court at a later date.
