Man who evaded police for weeks arrested

A man who managed to evade arrest was arrested by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on Friday.

Allan Gregory Cake, 33, was arrested without incident at a home on Freshwater Road.

He faces more than half-a-dozen charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon.

Cake allegedly led police on a car chase through the west end of St. John's and Mount Pearl on Jan. 3.

He fled on foot after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with two houses.

Cake is being held for a court appearance.
