The shooting that never happened: RNC say man lied about George Street incident

Police in St. John's are looking for a male suspect after an apparent shooting on George Street on Friday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a call around 7 p.m. and found a 43-year-old man with a gun shot wound.

Police said the victim had minor injuries after he was shot in the hand.

RNC also said that the two were not known to one another.

"At this time, we believe the victim and suspect are unknown to each other," said RNC Const. Steve Curnew in a statement.

Police are now searching for the suspected shooter, who is thought to be between the ages of 45 and 50, with red hair. He was wearing a yellow hoodie at the time of the incident.
