Rob Ford selling memorabilia on eBay

Rob Ford is auctioning off this map of Toronto's Port Lands from his Ward 2 office

Rob Ford is now on eBay — selling what he describes as collectibles in support of cancer research.

The former Toronto mayor said via Twitter on Friday he has decided to sell "a bunch of collectibles from over the years" on the online auction site. He said 10 per cent of proceeds will go towards liposarcoma research and care facilities.

Ford was diagnosed with liposarcoma last year, after which he dropped out of his bid for re-election. He instead ran for, and won, his former city council seat in Ward 2.

He has been undergoing chemotherapy which, according to his brother, former city councillor Doug Ford, has shrunk his tumour.

The first item up for bid is described as an original map of the Toronto port lands, from about 1990, which Ford says hung in the Ward 2 office. Ford is seen in a photo with the item, which by Friday evening had drawn three bids, topping out at $100.

The map comes with a "signed certificate of authenticity from Rob Ford himself" according to the posting.

Ford indicated other items will be posted later.

Ford himself was something of a hot item in 2013 when bobblehead dolls in his likeness went on sale, and were immediately put up for resale on eBay and other sites. Rob Ford bobbleheads continue to appear on eBay, with starting bids between $100 and $500.
