Robert Pattinson admits he had the "wrong take" on his Tenet character all along
When it comes to the plot of Christopher Nolan's new espionage thriller Tenet, star Robert Pattinson knows about as much as the rest of us.
In a wide-ranging interview with Esquire, the actor freely admitted that he finds Nolan's movies hard to understand, which is probably a bit of an issue when you're playing the lead role in one the big-time director's movies.
As it turns out, Pattinson had completely the "wrong take" for his character in Tenet. Not only that, he had absolutely no idea what was happening in the film.

“It’s an incredibly complicated movie, like all of Chris’s movies," he said. "I mean, you have to watch them when they’re completely finished and edited three or four times to understand what the true meaning is.
"When you’re doing them, I mean, there were months at a time where I’m like, ‘Am I . . . I actually, honestly, have no idea if I’m even vaguely understanding what’s happening.’ And yeah, I would definitely say that to John David [Washington, the movie's protagonist].

He continued: "On the last day, I asked him a question about what was happening in a scene, and it was just so profoundly the wrong take on the character. And it was like, ‘Have you been thinking this the entire time?'
"There’s definitely a bond in the end in kind of hiding the fact that maybe neither one of us knew exactly what was going on. But then I thought, 'Ah, but John David actually did know. He had to know what was going on.'"
We still don't much about Tenet ourselves, other than the fact it involves a bit of time manipulation (what Nolan film doesn't?) and a plot to start World War III. Also, it's not Inception 2.
Tenet is still currently set to arrive in UK and US cinemas on July 17.
