Robin Padilla frustrated with departure order

12 Sep - Robin Padilla recently expressed his frustration over not being allowed to leave the country to attend an event in China.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actor who has already been granted an absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte last year, shared that he was invited by the Sultanate of Sulu royalty to witness the upcoming celebration of the great ties between China and the sultanate.

However, he was unable to go due to a hold departure order by the Bureau of Immigration.

"It's tragic since I had no problem with departure back when I only had conditional pardon. But I am given a BI order when I already have an absolute pardon," he said, adding that he doesn't have any new pending cases before any tribunal to warrant the bureau to give him the hold order.

"I have been given a chance by the president. I hope that other branches of government will give me a chance too," he added.

Padilla was convicted of illegal possession of firearms in 1994, but was released after being granted conditional pardon by former President Fidel Ramos three years later.
