Rogers Place open house hours extended after nearly 50,000 tickets snapped up

It seems people really want to the see the inside of Rogers Place.

Officials with the City of Edmonton announced Wednesday that after an immense response from the public, they are opening another time slot for the Sept. 10 open house at Rogers Place.

The new time slot is at 4 p.m.

In two days, Edmontonians got their hands on almost 50,000 free tickets — the count as of noon Wednesday was a whopping 47,298. On Monday, almost 20,000 tickets went in 80 minutes for the event.

"Organizers are thrilled with the interest and are looking forward to a very exciting event on Sept. 10," Jodi Tauber, a communication advisor for the city, said in an email.

PCL, the general contractor for the building, is expected to hand over the keys some time this week. Officials believe the building will be finished in time for the open house.

Those visiting must reserve time slots for their tour. There is a four-ticket limit per email address. The open house will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and self-guided tours are expected to take about an hour.
