Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans
Leo In Red Lifeguard Trunks?: Leonardo DiCaprio's career almost ended up on the beach. According to David Hasselhoff, the three-time Oscar nominee auditioned to play his son Hobie on the series (a role that went to Jeremy Jackson). The actor not getting the gig - according to David - saved his career. "It was the best thing to happen to Leonardo DiCaprio," he told Movieline, with a laugh. "I saw Leonardo DiCaprio and I said, 'You know what? That was the best thing that ever happened to you! You would have never gotten 'Titanic' and have been this big star. You'd be like Jeremy Jackson and David Hasselhoff, looking for work." In 2011, Jeremy appeared on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew," where he sought treatment for steroid addiction. In 2011, Leo dated Blake Lively and starred in "J. Edgar," and began filming the big screen adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," where he stars as Jay Gatsby.
Hide The Go-Go Juice!: Honey Boo Boo Child is about to step into her very own spotlight! "Toddlers & Tiaras" breakout star, Alana Thompson, (Click HERE to refresh your memory on the reality TV gem!) is getting her own show. "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" will have a six episode run on TLC and also stars Alana's over-the-top family: mom, June Shannon, dad, Sugar Bear, and sisters Lauryn "Pumpkin," Jessica "Chubbs," and Anna "Chickadee." According to TLC, the Go-Go Juice-drinking pageant star's show will give viewers a look at their downhome lives. "When she's not chasing after crowns, Alana's with her family in rural Georgia doing what her family does best: four-wheeling through mud pits and picking up road kill for the family cookout," a statement from TLC said. We can't think of a show more embarrassing that we'll definitely have on our DVR!
Franco's "Girls" Rant: James Franco's rant on HBO's hit "Girls" was somewhat predictable and a bit on the nose for us, but we were surprised to read about his teenage love of... "Steel Magnolias"? "I watched 'Steel Magnolias' incessantly when I was in junior high school," he writes in his very lengthy Huffington Post blog about Lena Dunham's hit show. (Click HERE to read it all) We can't help but imagine James and brother Dave Franco recreating the iconic "drink you juice Shelby" moment between Julia Roberts and Sally Field when they were younger!
