Record-sized hailstones fell across Australia's east coast this week, with ice pellets larger than grapefruits lashing residents in parts of Queensland, the country's metereology bureau said on Wednesday. A thunderstorm struck the Yalboroo area north of Mackay, 954 km (593 miles) north of Brisbane on Monday, bringing record-sized hailstones measuring 16 cm (6.3 inches) in diameter, the Bureau of Metereology (BOM) said. Video obtained by Reuters also showed vehicles and buildings at an industrial site in the Gold Coast being pelted by hail on Monday, with a man picking up one hailstone the size of a golf ball and showing it to the camera.

ISTANBUL (AP) — Sebastian Coates waited years to score his first Champions League goal but only 12 minutes for the next one, a near-exact copy. The Sporting Lisbon captain scored two headers in almost identical circumstances and won a penalty for good measure, as he led his team to a 4-1 win against Besiktas in the Champions League on Tuesday. Uruguayan defender Coates was left unmarked in front of goal to head in when Pedro Goncalves' corner was flicked on by Goncalo Inacio at the near post in
Paul Pogba had seen enough. So had many disgruntled Manchester United fans. “We need to find something. We need to change something,” an exasperated Pogba said after United’s late collapse in a 4-2 loss at Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t disagree. “We need to look at the whole set-up and balance of the team,” the United manager said, moments after Pogba’s outburst. “And maybe something has to give.” It’s that time once again — it seems to happen on two or
Workers' compensation rates in the saltwater fishing industry in Nova Scotia are set to fall for the seventh straight year in 2022. Premiums have fallen 58 per cent since 2015, creating $12 million in annual savings for the industry, but while lower rates reflect an increased focus on safety and fewer accidents, fatalities are still occurring. Last week, the captain of the Miss Janet went missing from the fishing boat off southwestern Nova Scotia. His body was recovered off the coast of Yarmouth

It also came amid recent reports that Chu was found guilty of discreditable conduct

Once China's top-selling developer and now reeling under more than $300 billion of debt, Evergrande was in talks to sell a 50.1% stake in its Evergrande Property Services arm to smaller rival Hopson Development Holdings. In a stock exchange filing late on Wednesday, Evergrande said that the company had reason to believe that Hopson had not met the "prerequisite to make a general offer" for its unit without elaborating further.

That's the problem for investors searching for the next trouble spot in the Chinese real estate sector as industry giant China Evergrande Group lumbers towards what is expected to be the country's largest-ever corporate default. Since Beijing started clamping down on corporate debt in 2017, many real estate developers have turned to off-balance-sheet vehicles to borrow money and skirt regulatory scrutiny, analysts and lawyers say. Joint ventures are a popular choice because, unless a company holds a controlling interest in one, it can keep details of it and the debt it acquires off its balance sheet.
IQALUIT, Nunavut — A group of companies in Nunavut has teamed up to help recycle thousands of plastic water bottles that have been shipped to Iqaluit during the capital city's water crisis.
