Rose Paul homicide: $10K reward offered for arrest of Daniel Alphonse Paul

Vancouver police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Daniel Alphonse Paul, 42, who is being sought in the homicide of his girlfriend Rose Paul, a mother of five.

The body of 36-year-old Rose Paul was found March 3 in the basement suite in a home on East 22nd Avenue near Main Street.

Candace Paul described her sister 'Rosie', a mother raising five girls aged eight to 19, as beautiful, outgoing and loving.

"She helped all the young girls with the struggles of life," she said.

Virginia Houle, who lives near the home where Rose Paul was found, says she hadn't seen her for a while and neighbours noticed a smell coming from the suite where the couple lived together.

"Over a month, I hadn't seen her," she said. "The last time I seen her, she was running by here. It was raining. She had no shoes on, no jacket."

Three days before police arrived, Houle says she saw Daniel Alphonse Paul. He had grown a beard.

"The last time I seen him, he waved at us, after he'd taken his stuff out," she said. "So he had a three-day head start. Who knows where's he's at now."

Houle says he is chubbier than he appears in the picture being circulated by police.

History of violent offences against women

Vancouver police say Daniel Paul has a history of committing violent offences against women. They say it's possible that people who know him are helping him.

There have been tips of sightings of him in Chilliwack, B.C., but so far, police say, no solid leads.

Rose Paul's uncle Howard Paul says the family won't rest until Daniel Alphonse Paul is apprehended.

"Only two people know what happened that day and Rosie can't tell us. Daniel has answers to our questions and we want to know what happened."

Daniel Alphonse Paul is described as five feet eight inches tall with a medium build, brown eyes and short black hair.

He sports tattoos of an eagle, a rat, a knife, a skull and a buffalo on his left arm — on his right, a skull, a rose and a heart.

Police are advising the public to consider him armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him, but to call 911.
