Roughing it: 5 luxury items for camping creature comforts

"Roughing it" on a camping trip is subjective. Some people eschew technology to head out to the great outdoors, while others find the latest gadgets to enhance their trip into nature.

Jon Flaman is the marketing manager at Cabela's in Regina. He says there are products for every type of camper's taste, from those looking to make weenie roasts and s'mores to gourmet meals.

"I usually eat better when I'm camping than I do when I'm at home," he said, demonstrating some popular camping products such as outdoor deep fryers, a barbecue made specifically for cooking pizza quickly on a stone and a smoker that can hold more than your daily limit of fish.

One person's over-the-top creature comforts might be another person's camping necessities. For the comfort-conscious camper, we've compiled a list of five luxury camping items:

- Instant hot shower
This portable shower system is called the Zodi Hot Tap HP Dual Burner Shower. It might keep you comfortable if you want to become one with nature without forgoing your warm shower.

- Camp kitchen
If packing light isn't your style, why not give in and bring everything including the kitchen sink? This Cabela's Deluxe Camper's Kitchen really includes a sink of its own.

- Flushable loo
If the thought of no working toilets at your campsite gives you nightmares, a portable toilet may be the product for you. Pictured here is the Reliance Flushable Loo 400.

- Privy shelter
This is for those who ask "what good is a flushable loo if you can't close the door?" This Trekker Privy Shelter can also house a shower if you'd rather not use it as an outhouse.

- Cool beverage spinner
The Spin Chill Beverage Chiller locks onto the top of your can or bottle and uses batteries to spin it in your ice. It claims to chill drinks faster than just letting it sit on the ice.
