Roze Burke, missing Red Deer woman, found dead

Roze Burke, a 68-year-old woman from Red Deer County who went missing on March 13, has been found dead.

Police believe Burke was driving in a remote area south of Evansburg when her SUV got stuck. She then left the area to find help. According to police, she was found about 300 meters from her car.

Police said Burke may have had "dementia-related symptoms," although she had not been diagnosed.

Burke's friends and family had organized a search in Red Deer, but it was an air patrol doing an unrelated search that spotted her SUV on Friday. Burke's body was found shortly after.

They also found Burke's small dog, a west highland terrier, which has been reunited with her family.

RCMP are waiting for autopsy results to determine the cause of her death.
