Two eastern Ontario men have been charged with child pornography offences in separate investigations by Ontario Provincial Police.

OPP said Saturday that they had arrested and charged 54-year-old Paulo Casimiro following a lengthy online child exploitation investigation.

Last October, OPP executed a search warrant at a home in Rockland, Ont., approximately 40 kilometres east of downtown Ottawa, where they seized electronic exhibits.

After examining the evidence, police arrested Casimiro on June 29.

He faces charges of possessing child pornography, accessing child pornography and making child pornography available, OPP said.

He was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L'Orignal, Ont., on July 27.

Smiths Falls man also charged

OPP also said they'd executed another search warrant at a commercial property in Smiths Falls, Ont., on June 28, as part of a separate investigation.

A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged with one count of possessing child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.

He was released from custody following a bail hearing but is scheduled to appear in court in Perth, Ont., on July 26.
