Russell Williams sued by victim's family
The mother and brother of murder victim Jessica Lloyd have filed a lawsuit against her killer, Russell Williams, as well as his wife.
Lloyd, of Belleville, Ont., was 27 when she was abducted, assaulted and eventually strangled by Williams in the winter of 2010. Her mother, Roxanne, and brother, Andrew, filed the lawsuit Thursday — three days before the two-year anniversary of her disappearance.
The statement of claim was filed in Ontario Superior Court in Belleville, Ont.
Roxanne and Andy Lloyd are seeking $1 million in damages for pain and suffering. The claim also seeks $1 million in punitive, special and aggravated damages.
None of the allegations contained in the statement of claim have been proven in court.
Williams, a former commander at CFB Trenton, pleaded guilty to 88 charges and was sentenced in October 2010 to two terms of life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years for the first-degree murders of both Lloyd and Canadian Forces Cpl. Marie-France Comeau.
Two other women, Laurie Massicotte and Jane Doe, have already filed suit against Williams and his wife for sexual assaults that occurred in Tweed, Ont.
Williams's former next-door neighbour, Larry Jones, is also suing the couple, as well as the OPP after they wrongly searched his home and investigated him for crimes that occurred in the small eastern Ontario town of Tweed, a half hour drive from CFB Trenton.
