A Russian kicked off Olympic skiing with a brutal-looking crash

The first two days of the Olympic skiing competition were postponed due to dangerous winds.

But when the events finally got underway on Tuesday in PyeongChang, it didn’t take long for the mountain to rise up and claim a skiier. Pavel Trikhichev of the Olympic Athletes from Russian squad was the third man out of the gate in the men’s alpine combined downhill and he experienced a crash that knocked him out of the event.

As brutal as that whole thing looked, the good news is that Trikhichev got up on his own and walked off. He was O.A.R.’s lone representative in the event.
