Ryan's Law passes in Ontario, will allow children to carry inhalers at school

The Ontario legislature has unanimously voted in favour of a bill known as Ryan's Law, which will allow children to carry their inhalers with them at school.

The bill was named for 12-year-old Ryan Gibbons, who died after suffering an asthma attack during recess at his school in southwestern Ontario.

The boy's school did not allow him to keep his inhaler with him. It was kept locked in the office because it was prescribed medication.

The new law will require every school to allow a student with asthma to carry his or her inhaler with permission from their parent or guardian and doctor.
