Sailor saved by Coast Guard as boat falls victim to Hurricane Helene aftermath
The US Coast Guard from Air Station Clearwater have shared dramatic footage from the moment they rescued a man, whose 32-foot sailboat had broken down in the choppy aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
The sailor, who was found near the City of Gulfport Municipal Marina, had tried to swim ashore, but become trapped in the unforgiving waters caused by the category 4 storm.
He was hoisted up by a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter as the waves crashed below, but managed to sustain no injuries.
