Saint John Police were involved in the pursuit of a vehicle early Tuesday morning in the uptown part of the city.

Officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle on Crown Street at around 1:40 a.m.

Saint John Police said the car, a red Mazda 6, was reported stolen from Orange Street at 10:39 a.m. on Monday.

The suspect led police on a chase down to the Potash Terminal where the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a power pole, breaking it in two.

The suspect took off on foot and was apprehended a short time later near the railroad tracks.

No one was injured in the collision and no power outages were reported as a result of the crash.

A 24–year–old man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for police, resisting an arrest and probation violations. He's expected to appear in court Tuesday morning.
