Samsung’s latest flagship S9 series will be available in Singapore on 16 March with prices starting from $1,198 and pre-orders starting this Thursday (1 March).

Customers can start registering their interest at the major telco operators – M1, Singtel, StarHub – or at the online Samsung Store from Thursday at 12pm.

They can also pre-order the phones via the websites of major consumer electronics & IT stores as well as Lazada Singapore, or at selected Samsung Experience Stores during operating hours.

The 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 is priced at $1,198 and is only available in 64GB.

Its larger 6.2-inch sibling Galaxy S9+ will be priced at $1,348 for the 64GB model and $1,498 for the 256GB model. They will be available in three colours in Singapore: Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.

All consumers who purchase the Galaxy S9 or S9+ will be entitled to a complimentary Samsung Concierge Care Pack worth $128 and trade-in value for their eligible device of up to $610.

Purchasers of the Galaxy S9+ 256GB model will also receive a wireless charger stand worth $108 while stocks last.

Next-gen Galaxy series

Officially unveiled at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday, the Galaxy S9 series had been designed for “the visual and social generation”, said DJ Koh, Samsung’s president of IT and mobile communications.

While both devices retain the full screen and curved glass edge of the S8, they feature improved cameras, an artificial intelligence-powered voice tool, and additional social media functions.

New features include an automatic super-slow motion camera setting that looks primed to show up on Instagram feeds soon, and software that turns selfies into animated emojis.

The devices feature an updated biometric log-in feature called Intelligent Scan, which combines the existing facial and iris scanning technologies in the past phones.

Both 12-megapixel smartphones will feature dual aperture lenses, which can switch between F1.5 and F2.4. The Galaxy S9+ will also come with dual rear cameras. WITH AGENCIES
