Samsung NX1 Smart Camera Offers Fast Auto Focus, Wi-Fi Connectivity

Samsung is welcoming a new member to its family of cameras in the form of its flagship NX1 Smart Camera. The latest in the Korean tech giant’s line of NX cameras, the NX1 boasts a host of new technologies and features that serious shutterbugs and amateur photogs alike should appreciate.

The NX1’s standout features are its new 28-megapixel backside illumination CMOS sensor, which Samsung says allows the camera to take in more light than standard sensors for better-quality images, and NX AF System III autofocus, which lets photographers snap off images of subjects moving quickly without losing focus. An AF Assist Beam helps photographers focus on their subjects in low-light conditions by sending out an invisible beam of light up to 15 meters that bounces off the subject and back to the camera.

Samsung says the NX1’s new DRIMe V Image Processor will give photographers improved color reproduction and enhanced noise reduction, so your images will be more vibrant without any annoying pixelation.

Part of the NX family’s allure is its smart functionality, which include connectivity features such as NFC, WiFi, and Bluetooth. With NFC and Samsung’s Photo Beam, NX1 owners can wirelessly share photos taken with the camera with any NFC compatible devices.

The camera’s AutoShare feature lets you automatically send photos to your smartphone or tablet, while the NX1’s Remote Viewfinder Pro option allows you to control the NX1 with your smartphone. So you can set up the camera and shoot, zoom, and adjust manual photo settings from your handset.

We’ve yet to actually test out the camera, but we’ll let you know how well all of this works once we do. Samsung has yet to announce availability or pricing for the NX1 Smart Camera, so we’ll have to keep you updated on that, too. Stay tuned.
