Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals the secret to her happy marriage

Some things are better kept secret, just ask Sarah Michelle Gellar. The actress recently opened up about her 15-year marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. and revealed the reason why she believes they have stayed together all these years.

“Separate bathrooms,” she told Harry Connick Jr. on the Nov 22 episode of his talk show Harry. “I feel like there are certain things that should just be kept your own and they never need to know about,” the 40-year-old star said with a laugh.

My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I'm not the one who married me. #happyanniversary @realfreddieprinze 15 years!!

Sarah also confessed that it’s important to keep your interests separate, too, “A separate shopping credit card or if you are a guy, maybe a separate gaming card so I don’t have to see how much video games cost.” And when things get tough, the actress isn’t afraid to ask for help. So when she felt Freddie was too deep into playing video garmes, she joined a support group! “I literally at this point lost my husband, so I joined a support group – not a joke! – called, Widows of Warcraft,” she confessed.

Freddie and Sarah have been together for 15 years.

The lovebirds met back in 1997 while they were filming the cult classic thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer . Freddie, 41, has said that he believes the friendship they formed on set is the real key to their happy marriage. Speaking to E! News, the actor explained, “We were just friends for a good two years before we ever went on a date. She knew what kind of guy I was. She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were and vice versa,” adding, “We already kind of knew all the faults in the other person.”

He added that another positive in their ‘cool and groovy relationship’ is laugher. “As long as they can make you laugh, laughter lasts forever,” he pointed out. “If you just think she’s hot or she just thinks you’re hot, you’re in a lot of trouble when you’re 60!”
