Sarnia police have laid charges after they say a 58-year-old woman was pushed out of a moving car during an argument.

Police say officers were called to the area of Indian Road and Devine Street in the city's south end around 6 p.m. on June 16.

When they got there, police say, paramedics were caring for an injured woman. Officers talked to her, and police learned she'd been pushed out of a car going about 50 kilometres per hour.

The woman had a dislocated knee and scratches, police say. She was treated in hospital and released.

Police say they've have now charged the driver of the car — 62-year-old Sarnia man — with assault, assault causing bodily harm, dangerous driving and failure to stop after an accident.

He's in custody pending a bail hearing.
