Saskatchewan film to premier at SOHO Film Festival in NYC

A Saskatchewan film has been accepted into the SOHO International Film Festival.

The Night Runner was produced by Regina's Sherona Sinclair who says her home city was actually her inspiration for the movie.

"The idea for the film came from living and working in downtown Regina, where you get a lot of emptiness in the streets and sometimes there's the odd person stirring about and you wonder what they're up to," she said.

Starring Travis Landry (another Regina product), The Night Runner is about an everyday man who struggles with his role in society.

The central character is Hayden, an insurance worker who's an insomniac.

"He hits the streets running, he finds out the city doesn't sleep either so he's a vigilante of sorts," said Sinclair, who added the film took about two years to complete with a crew of about ten people based in Regina, New York and L.A.

The film was shot in Regina and New Jersey but don't expect it to shout either location said Sinclair. The Night Runner has more of a Gotham-like vibe (referring to Gotham City, a gritty fictional city popularized in the Batman comic series.)

Sinclair's film is set to premier at the Soho International Film Festival in New York in June. After that, Sinclair said she will be working on fashion and music videos. She also hints about another film project set in Saskatchewan, something about a post-apocalyptic world and zombies.
