Saskatoon police are investigating a drive-by shooting on the long weekend that sent a man to hospital.

It happened just before 4 a.m. CST Saturday at a house on the 800 block of Avenue I South. Neighbours say they were awakened by multiple shots, and then the lights and sirens from police cruisers.

"Upon arrival, officers located the injured male. He was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries," police said in a news release.

Police recovered shell casings on the street in front of the house.

They were also able to collect video evidence.

Police did not offer a motive for the shooting.
