Saskatoon Police offer free mobile app to connect with smartphone crowd

Saskatoon Police are offering a free mobile app they say will make it easier for people to do everything from reporting a crime to finding out how to become a police officer.

"This mobile app is essentially a one-stop-shop for finding what you need as it relates to the SPS," said Chief Clive Weighill.

"It is yet another way for the citizens of Saskatoon to stay up-to-date and communicate with the police service."

It cost the department $15,000 to develop.

The app takes a variety of things the police already offer and brings them together on a smartphone.

For instance, a person could use it to file a police report and someone involved in a fender-bender could submit their report from the roadside while the details are still fresh.

They can also browse the latest missing person photos, or use the interactive crime map to find out what's happening in their neighbourhood.

The app is available on the iOS Apple store and Google Play Marketplace.
