GREY-BRUCE – Saugeen Hospice Inc. held its first annual meeting Monday evening, July 26, electronically.
Carl Kuhnke said over 75 people attended, including representatives from all levels of government – Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody and two members of Brockton council – James Lang and Kym Hutcheon.
Both Kuhnke and Lang are on the new 12-person board of directors, representing the Brockton-South Bruce-Hanover area. All bring a wealth of experience in the business and volunteer sectors. The other members are Ken Brown, Elaine Burrow, Brenda Campbell, Kelly Fotheringham, Ed King, Francis-Joseph Gross, Edyth Oberle, Sandra Schreinert, Steven Travale and Shannon Wood.
Kunke said the group is in the process of getting charitable status.
A bank account has been set up for those who want to make sure their donation goes to ensuring a hospice is built in the south part of Grey-Bruce that will serve local communities. Tax receipts will be issued upon achieving charitable status.
