Savannah Guthrie to Publish Faith-Based Kids Book: ‘A Message That Anyone Could Use’
The ‘Today’ Show co-anchor’s new children’s book follows her 2024 essay collection ‘Mostly What God Does’
Savannah Guthrie has a new children’s book hitting shelves soon.
On Dec. 2, the Today Show co-anchor, 52, announced on the program that she will release her new kids book next year. Mostly What God Does is Love You will arrive in bookstores in February 2025 and follows Guthrie’s 2024 essay collection, Mostly What God Does.
Per the book’s description, Mostly What God Does is Love You, which features illustrations by Morgan Huff, “showcases the wonders of nature, the beauty of God’s creation and most importantly, how very loved you are by God.” It can be used to uplift readers of all ages.
Guthrie also shared an early look at the book's illustrations on Today, and said that readers who purchase the book as a gift through its website will receive a complimentary downloadable poster and gift tag.
“It’s just a sweet goodnight story, but hopefully a message that anyone could use,” Guthrie said.
Guthrie spoke with PEOPLE in February 2024 about Mostly What God Does, and she shared that writing the essay collection was a rewarding experience.

"It just started spilling out of me. Even before I had a contract signed, I was writing and thinking, and the whole process was so exciting and thrilling and felt so alive,” Guthrie said. "I felt like I was learning so much that even if there never was a book at the end of it, the process and the journey was so moving and personal and valuable. It felt like, in a way, something that was happening between me and God."
Guthrie, who also authored the children’s books Princesses Wear Pants and Princesses Save the World, noted that writing Mostly What God Does allowed her to reflect on difficult moments in her own life, including the death of her father, Charles Guthrie, when she was a teenager.
"I think that when you read the book, you recognize that I'm a definite worrier, and there's no question about that. My faith has been the biggest antidote to that," she said.
"That doesn't mean I don't worry, or I sit around and it's a state of rapture all day long with not a care in the world," Guthrie added. "No. It just means I bring my worries to God."
