Scary collision in Regina puts van on its side

A collision in Regina Friday put a large van onto its side — a scary sight but there were no serious injuries noted.

It happened around 3 p.m. CST on Broad Street near 7th Avenue North.

According to Joe Wszolek, whose car was damaged in the crash, the collision involved a Subaru that was going along Broad Street and struck the van. The van keeled over and struck Wszolek's car.

He said his airbags deployed and his windshield and front left window were smashed.

"The van came through my windshield almost," Wszolek said. "I thought I was dead almost."

While he did have a cut on one hand, he did not appear to be seriously injured.

According to a police officer on the scene, the person behind the wheel of the van -- a 16-year-old boy -- had gone through a stop sign at the intersection and the Subaru driver could not avoid the collision.

There were no other serious injuries.
