After thousands of outages, nearly all power restored on MS Coast after rare winter storm

WEDNESDAY UPDATE
8:45 a.m. Singing River Electric has restored all but about 46 of the 3,500 power outages reported Wednesday morning south of U.S. 90 in the Fountainbleu area between Ocean Springs and Gautier, Mississippi.
“There were some issues with ice on some substation equipment at the Hamill Farm substation, and also one of the feeders that had too much a load on it,” SRE public relations specialist Amanda Parker said. Wednesday morning. Those outages have since been restored.
In addition, she said crews are responding to about 117 outages in Pascagoula, but crews are working to restore those now. Another 291 customers lost power in Greene County, and crews are in the process of restoring power there.
Mississippi Power is reporting 1,177 power outages, with 175 in Harrison County and 210 in Jackson County. Other scattered outages are reported across Forrest, Pearl River and Lauderdale counties. Coast Electric is reporting 65 outages, with 3 in Hancock County and 62 in Pearl River County.
7:25 a.m.: Singing River is reporting more than 3,500 power outages, most south of U.S. 90 in the Fountainbleu area between Ocean Springs and Gautier. Mississippi Power is reporting 575 outages, with 227 in Harrison County and 352 in Jackson County. The remaining four outages are spread across Forrest, Pearl River and Lauderdale counties. Coast Electric is reporting 9 outages, with 7 in Harrison County and 2 in Pearl River County.

A few scattered power outages are reported in South Mississippi on Tuesday due to a rare winter storm.
Before 8 a.m., Mississippi Power reported one outage, but electricity has since been restored.
Coast Electric reports 62 outages in Hancock County and seven in Harrison County.
Singing River Electric reported a few outages in Jackson County.
