Scholastic Book Fair Goes Virtual

·2 min read

Swan Hills School will be hosting a Scholastic Virtual Book Fair in March. Scholastic Book Fairs have generated excitement for generations of students. I remember being super excited whenever the Scholastic flyers were sent out at my school back when I was a student, and now my son has the same reaction when book fairs are announced at his school.

Scholastic has adapted to life with COVID-19 by developing a virtual book fair so that students and families living in areas where an in-school fair is not currently possible can still take part. By going virtual, families can share their love of reading by shopping from home while supporting the Swan Hills School at the same time. Even better yet, your order will be shipped directly to you.

Up to half of the sales from the Scholastic Book Fair comes back to the Swan Hills School library in books that are chosen from the fair, Scholastic educational resources, and/or direct funds. The library usually receives a combination of these supports. The Book Fair is the library’s single source of funding outside of their collection budget. The students really enjoy having the popular books from the fair added to the library’s collection, and the collected funds go towards extras such as special furniture, bean bags, bookmarks, and library programs. So please support our school library if you are able to do so.

The book fair will run from March 11 – 24, 2021. Orders over $40 will qualify for free shipping, as well as any amount ordered on Family Nights (Wednesdays between 6:00 and 8:00 PM).

A link to the book fair will be sent out closer to the date, but you can go to www.scholastic.ca/bookfairs/featuredbooksfor a preview of the items that will be available. Visit virtualbookfairs.scholastic.ca/pages/5154503 for Scholastic’s virtual bookmark to get ready.
