School bus hits pedestrian crossing the road on Manatee Avenue, Bradenton police say
A private school bus hit a 59-year-old man Thursday morning while he was crossing a Bradenton road, police said.
Just after 6:30 a.m., the man was crossing the street when the bus hit him on Manatee Avenue near 26th Street East, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Police shut down the westbound lanes of Manatee Avenue from about 6:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
The man, whose name was not released to the public, was not walking in a crosswalk, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to a news release. Police did not give details on his condition.
None of the students on the private charter school bus were hurt in the crash.
No further details were available as of Thursday morning.
