School hosts virtual trivia night

·1 min read

Kincardine Forest School is continuing its tradition of holding a fundraising trivia night this year, in a virtual fashion.

Principal Christine Brown said the school has partnered with Grey Matter Beer Company for the past two years to hold the fundraiser, which raises money for equipment and activities, as well as a small bursary for students who would benefit from attending the school but don’t have the financial means to pay for it.

Because of COVID restrictions, the school didn’t want to lose the energy the evening created by simply cancelling.

"We are really trying to keep the momentum going by running our fundraiser this year,” said Brown. “Yes, it looks a bit different but we truly feel the community appreciates a small amount of normalcy and fun! We also know that many other local businesses are struggling in these times and have always tried our best to support local where we can. The beer and treats are all local (Grey Matter and Watercress Bistro) as well as the raffle prizes are provided by local businesses and entrepreneurs."

Scheduled for Jan. 22 at 8 p.m., the event is touted as a “date night in.” Each household, or team within the household, can purchase in advance one of two event packages that include a beer, treats and raffle tickets. Teams are invited to participate from their living rooms, beds or even a hot tub. Brown will be the master of ceremonies for the evening, with the questions putting a focus on nature and pop-culture.
