Road conditions still poor in winter storm
Prince Edward Islanders should stay off the roads Tuesday if they can, says CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland, as the weather is causing poor driving conditions.
Winds from a snowstorm that started Monday night are expected to grow stronger over the day making visibility, already described as poor in most parts of the province, even worse.

Public schools, provincial civil service offices, Veterans Affairs Canada, UPEI and Holland College have closed for the day. Northumberland Ferries has cancelled its sailings for the day and a wind warning advisory is in effect for Confederation Bridge.
Health PEI is advising Islanders to call ahead and check if their medical appointments have been cancelled.
Maritime Electric has been working to keep on top of power outages. Before dawn there were about 250 without power, but that was restored before 8:30 a.m. For most of the morning there were fewer than 20 outages, at 1 p.m. that was back up to about 190.
Bad driving conditions continue
Scotland said although the snow fall will ease later on Tuesday, "strong winds will continue to impact travel."
"Winds gusting from 50 to over 80 km/h will persist through the evening resulting in blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility."
Despite some sunshine returning Wednesday morning, Scotland cautions road conditions could still be poor.
"Winds will gradually ease overnight but blowing snow will still be a concern for drivers Wednesday morning, especially for rural roads," he said.
"With northwest gusts from 40 to over 60 km/h possible."
