Search for Calgary man wanted in nightclub shooting goes national

Police have expanded the search for a Calgary man wanted in a nightclub shooting that left another man dead.

Calgary police responded to the Junction Underground nightclub at 628 Eighth Avenue S.W. in the early hours of Oct. 10, to reports that a man had been shot.

John Mitchell Smith Jr. was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The search for the 35-year-old suspect, Jesse Michael Martinez, has now been expanded Canada-wide, police said in a Monday release. He's facing second-degree murder charges.

Anyone with information about Martinez is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or they can report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
