Search for child resumes in Thames River in London, Ont., a day after she went missing
First responders in London, Ont., have resumed searching the Thames River on Friday for a girl who went missing a day earlier.
The search began with divers and boats at around 3 p.m. ET Thursday after reports that a young girl entered the water near the intersection of Adelaide Street and Kipps Lane and was then seen struggling.
"Members of the London Police Service continue to monitor the river and searched riverbanks overnight for the missing child with the use of several large spotlights," Const. Matt Dawson of the London Police Service said in a statement Friday morning.
"Emergency services will be deploying back into the river this morning as day breaks. Police are reminding the public that the river is high and moving quickly and to allow emergency personnel with the appropriate safety gear to conduct the search."

There are no details on the age of the child, but the emergency call, according to fire officials, came from the mother.
About a dozen church community members who were at the scene Thursday for support said the mother was there with her three children and the family is from the Philippines. The church members also said the young girl, who is believed to be about seven years old, ventured off while the mom was busy with the younger children.
