Search ends at Woodbine Beach, no victim found

The Toronto police marine unit was out on the water near Woodbine Beach on Thursday afternoon.

A search for a possible missing swimmer in the water off Woodbine Beach was called off on Thursday evening without police finding anything.

The Toronto police marine unit began searching on Thursday afternoon after someone reported seeing a woman on a buoy who then disappeared. However, no one was found.

Sgt. Jeff Moyer told CBC News no one has been reported missing so far.

Moyer said it was possible the woman who was seen out in the water simply made it back to shore without being noticed.

Police had previously said the search was precautionary.
