The search is on for a horse gone missing during a hunting trip this past September in Pink Mountain.
‘Bobby’ is a 12 year-old gelding that wandered off during a hunting trip near the 216 Road on Sept. 24, and has yet to return. Megan Holm is a friend of the owners and spoke with Alaska Highway News, telling them Bobby is super friendly but known to be mischievous.
“They’ve got a ranch Big Bar by Clinton, but they went hunting up in Pink Mountain and the horse untied himself. They were able to track him back to the horse trailer, but he wasn’t there,” Holm explained. “Most folks up there are honest, so I don’t think he was taken. But he’s also a friendly horse and would get in anyone’s trailer, so it’s hard to know.”
Holm hopes 'Bobby' can be found sooner than later especially with colder weather setting in for winter, noting they’ve asked local guides and outfitters to keep an eye out for the wayward horse too.
“He might go back to the same area. Honestly, I’ve never experienced anything like this, but he’s a good horse,” said Holm, noting the horse could have also joined up with a herd without anyone knowing.
