See if friends & family in MS exercised their right to vote in 2024 election. How it works

How to check to see if your family or friends have voted.

A new website tool has made it easier to check up on your own voting record and see if others have exercised their right to vote.

Here’s what to know about the tool, who can use it, what you can see about someone’s voting history and more:

Can you see if someone voted in the 2024 election?

Yes, with the Didmyfriendsvote.org website tool, you can view your own or someone else’s voting record because it is public information.

According to the website, the tool was created in order “to encourage people to learn about their voting record, about voting, and about how they can help their friends and neighbors remember to vote.”

Although voting records have always been public in every state, this website tool simply makes it easier and quicker to check.

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to Didmyfriendsvote.org

  • Type in the first and last name of the person you’re checking on (this will be the name that the person registered under)

  • Select their age range

  • Type in the person’s city and state where they are registered to vote

  • Select “check if they voted” at the bottom of the page

  • If the person you are checking on recently moved, it may be difficult to find their voting record. If the person you entered goes by another name, the website tool may bring up additional names and cities to choose from based on your input. Just select the one you think matches your search.

If the search is successful, you’ll be brought to another page with the person’s voting history information. The page will show the following:

  • If the person voted in the 2024 election or not.

  • If their voting status for the current election is pending. Pending could mean that the record hasn’t been updated yet.

  • The page will also show if they voted in past elections or not.

The tool doesn’t tell you how people voted

However, the page does not indicate which party the voter supports or who they voted for in any election.

“Who you voted for is secret, and not available in any public or private database,” the website states.

But you can just about check up on anyone you know and vice versa: your friends, partner, parents, boss, neighbors and others can check your voting record.

The website also has a “share” button at the bottom of each voting record, letting people share voting records on social media.

Many people are even checking to see if celebrities exercised their right to vote and sharing their findings.

According to The Mirror U.S., fans are slamming Khloe Kardashian for not voting in any past elections after using the website tool to check her record. Similarly, TMZ reported that rapper Waka Flocka Flame is under fire for his no-vote in the 2024 election after being “one of hip hop’s most vocal Donald Trump supporters.”
