See A’s players join excited Sacramento-area school kids for recess: ‘I’ll beat your daddy’
Professional baseball arrived just in time for recess at Mariemont Elementary School in Arden Arcade on Tuesday.
Athletics slugger Brent Rooker and outfielders Lawrence Butler and JJ Bleday stopped by the campus as part of a barnstorming visit to their new hometown community that included a Sacramento Kings game and a media introduction at the Kimpton Sawyer hotel on Monday.
Butler clarified during recess that he was better at baseball than any of the assembled elementary students, or their fathers.
“Your daddy can’t mess with me. I’ve been playing since 2003, and he was washed up in 1981,” he said.
The A’s home opener at Sutter Health Park is March 31 against the Chicago Cubs.
