Riverbank picked up its first win of the new season Nov. 23 and junior point guard Leilani Olanolan had a lot to do with it, scoring 21 points.
The Bruins, who have been to the state playoffs in back-to-back seasons and made the 2023 section title game, started off the 2024-25 season with a dominant 83-58 win over McNair.
It was Riverbank’s third straight season-opening win and was its first time scoring over 80 points in a game since January 2023.
The fans noticed Olanolan’s performance, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.
Olanolan came in first, collecting 62% of the votes in the weekly poll. She finished ahead of her Riverbank basketball teammate Taylor Macias and Ripon Christian girls soccer player Addison Dejong, who were second and third.
