Seller gets more than she bargained for when police respond to ad for stolen sunglasses

She was selling a pair of sunglasses, but instead of getting cash for them, she got criminal charges.

Staff at a business on 18th Street in Brandon's south end called police after seeing the sunglasses for sale online — with the original price tag still attached, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Staff confirmed the glasses, valued at more than $150, were missing from their inventory, police said.

Police contacted the seller and arranged to meet and buy the glasses.

When the woman arrived at the meet-up location, police arrested her and recovered the sunglasses.

A 27-year-old Brandon woman was arrested for possession of stolen property and is expected in court in May.
