The main A90 road in Aberdeenshire has been closed following a serious crash between an HGV and a car.

Emergency services were called to the Cruden Bay area after the collision at about 13:00.

The Scottish Ambulance Service told BBC Scotland News it had dispatched "multiple resources" to the scene and the incident remained ongoing.

Police Scotland said the road had been closed in both directions and was expected to remain closed for a "number of hours". Drivers have been urged to avoid the area if possible.
