1 dead after collision on Hwy. 105 north of Gracefield

The driver of a car involved in serious collision with a heavy vehicle on Route 105 north of Gracefield, Que., has died, provincial police confirmed.

The collision happened at about 1 p.m. on the highway in the community of Messines.

A car travelling south veered into the other lane and hit a heavy vehicle travelling north, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

The driver of the car was extricated from their vehicle and taken to Maniwaki Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Police have not identified the victim.

The driver of the heavy vehicle was treated for shock.

The highway is closed in both directions and a detour is in place at Chemin Jolivette.
