Servant season 2 confirms January 2021 return date with new trailer

From Digital Spy

M Night Shyamalan's Apple TV+ series Servant won't be back in time for Halloween, but it promises to be suitably and "insidiously creepy" when it returns in 2021.

The 10-part series, which stars Nell Tiger Free, Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, and Rupert Grint, will be back for a second season on January 15 next year, and a brand new teaser for the horror promises another terrifying trip into the mind of Shyamalan.

Servant follows Dorothy and Sean Turner, a bereaved couple who hire nanny Leanne to look after their baby son, Jericho. The catch? Jericho is actually a "reborn doll" – and Leanne is far more sinister than your average Mary Poppins figure.

The trailer offers little in terms of plot, apart from glimpses of 'baby' Jericho, a pot-wielding Rupert Grint, and much of the same uneasy terror that infused the first series.

Hinting at what's to come in season two, M Night Shyamalan previously revealed that viewers should expect certain themes from its debut run to unfold further in the upcoming episodes.

In particular, the "rules" surrounding Servant's setting will continue to play a prominent role, which means that the action will once again revolve around the same location of Dorothy and Sean's brownstone.

As Shyamalan points out: "My rules are anything that's tethered to the house is fair game for the season... And then anything beyond that has to be seen through TV or some visual portal."

Servant will return to Apple TV+ on Friday, January 15, 2021, with new episodes landing each Friday thereafter.
