Environment Canada has lifted a severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa and Gatineau, Que., but a thunderstorm watch remains in place.

As of 5:50 p.m., the weather agency was still tracking a severe storm capable of producing 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.

Warnings remained in place in parts of western Quebec.

Watches are issued when there is the potential for inclement weather. Warnings are issued when that weather is actually occurring or is imminent.
