Calgary Police Service

A man who followed a teen from a downtown LRT station to the Kensington area, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her Monday of last week, has led to a hunt for both the suspect and a possible witness, police said in a statement Thursday.

A man approached a 17-year-old girl while she was leaving the Eighth Street S.W. CTrain station at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 2, police said. They talked and then she headed toward the Kensington shopping district, northwest of downtown.

"It is believed that the man followed and engaged in another conversation with her while sitting on a bench in the 1200 block of Kensington Close N.W., and then sexually assaulted her."

On Thursday, police released video screenshots of the suspect and a female witness they believe may have information about the incident. On Friday, they said the witness got in touch with them and spoke with investigators.

The man is described as having light-brown skin with dark hair and a moustache. He was wearing brown shoes and tan pants.
