In the interview, Twain explained that in the early days of her career she wanted to take "charge" in spite of internalized "fear" and "insecurities."

"I was never a pushover, ever in my life," she said. "I took control wherever I could ... Maybe control’s not the right word. I took charge. That’s way better. I took charge. From a very young age, I had to let a lot roll off my back. Fear, my insecurities. These are things that are not allowed to get in the way of my dreams and my forward motion."

Twain recently dubbed her highly anticipated sixth studio album as "just the start" of a "new chapter" in her career and life.

"It is a long way from country,” she described her upcoming sound on the latest episode of HBO's "Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?"

"It’s high-energy boppy-poppy. In the video, I’m very much playing superstar, I am dressing up. And having a lot of fun with fashion and looks like never before. It’s indulgent for me," she added.
