To kick off his weeklong stay at The Late Late Show with James Corden, pop sensation Shawn Mendes joined Corden for his signature Carpool Karaoke segment on Monday. In addition to singing hits like 2016’s “Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” they had an educational trip through the streets of Los Angeles.
Corden tried to teach Mendes something about road rage, encouraging him to roll down the window and yell at a passing driver. The singer, who admits to never even using his horn while driving, was clearly not interested in learning.
Instead, the Canadian took Corden to a nearby ice rink and showed off some of his hockey skills. Mendes, who said he played for a couple of years when he was younger, did look a bit rusty on the ice. Luckily, playing alongside Corden would make anyone look like a pro.
Mendes also broke down his love for the Harry Potter franchise, adding a different piece of Potter flare to his look each time the camera went back to him. But mostly they stuck to the carpool lane and doing what they both do best — belting out songs.
