Shooter arrested in Delhi drive-by, police say

A woman allegedly shot up the front of two residences in Delhi on Monday from inside a black SUV.

By Wednesday night, she was under arrest.

Norfolk County OPP officers were in Brantford alongside city police officers on Wednesday to search a property on Jamieson Court.

Police said they found a black Ford Escape SUV alleged to have been driven to two addresses on Monday in Delhi by an unknown male suspect. Bullets fired from inside the car shortly after 9 p.m. hit residences on Queen Street and Talbot Street, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers arrested the alleged shooter at an Elgin Street address in Brantford.

A 24-year-old Brantford woman is charged with two counts of discharging a firearm into a place in a reckless manner, along with four other weapons charges including unauthorized possession and careless use of a firearm.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The arrest followed police releasing a surveillance camera still image of the alleged shooter.

Police continue to search for the alleged getaway driver, described as a white male in his 20s who was wearing a hat, sunglasses, black balaclava and white shirt on the date of the shootings.
