Shooting leaves one man dead, coroner says. Columbus Police Department investigating
A man is dead after a shooting Sunday evening in the 4600 block of Holly Ave in Columbus, according to officials.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m. after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
The victim’s identity had not been released as of Monday morning. Bryan said the victim’s body will be sent for an autopsy.
A homicide investigation started Sunday night, according to a post from the Columbus Police Department on X, formerly known as Twitter. The Violent Crimes Unit was investigating.
Police said later Monday that a suspect had been arrested in the shooting. Emilio Manrique-Camoran was arrested and charged with murder and possession of VGCSA schedule II drug (methamphetamine), according to police.
Manrique-Camoran was expected to appear in Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
